Why it's different

Generic AI gives generic advice.

Ask a chatbot when to plant spinach and you'll get an answer for an average garden in an average year. Connected to Siltwell, your assistant answers the same question from your data: your beds and what's in them, your zone and frost dates, what you planted last season, and what your journal recorded.

You keep your own Claude or ChatGPT account and use it wherever you already do. The connector gives that assistant tools that read your garden and log what you tell it.

Setup

Setup takes about two minutes.

In Claude

  1. Open Siltwell in Claude's connector directory and select Connect. You can also find it in Claude under Customize → Connectors.
  2. Ask about your own garden. Claude asks you to sign in with your Siltwell account and approve access.

In ChatGPT

  1. In Siltwell, open Settings → AI assistants and copy the connector URL.
  2. On the web, open chatgpt.com/plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Siltwell, paste the link as the Server URL, and choose OAuth. ChatGPT shows a warning about custom servers; select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. Install it from your personal plugins.
  3. Sign in with your Siltwell account and approve access.

You need no API keys and no extra software. Other assistants that support custom MCP connectors use the same connector URL. To disconnect, use Settings → AI assistants in Siltwell, or your assistant's own settings.

In Claude, the connector gives your assistant 33 tools: 29 for your own garden and 4 lookups that work for any place. ChatGPT gets 28 of the garden tools. Every event, harvest, and planting it logs appears in your journal and timeline, the same as an entry you make yourself.

Your garden stays yours.

You grant access to your own account through a normal Siltwell sign-in. The assistant receives an access token and never sees your password. The connector is part of the free tier and stays that way. You can delete your data whenever you like, and we don't sell it.

Common questions.

No. The connector works on every Siltwell account and stays free, like the planner and journal. Its tools follow the same plan limits as the app. On a free account it can't connect a station, and weather history reaches back 12 months.

It works with claude.ai, the Claude desktop and mobile apps, and ChatGPT. The connector uses MCP, an open standard, so other assistants that support custom connectors can use it too.

Not for general questions in Claude. Anyone can ask about frost dates, planting windows, season length and this week's frost risk for any place. Questions about your own beds, plantings and journal need a free Siltwell account, and Claude asks you to sign in when you get there.

It can reach your garden data, plus the name, email address, and profile photo on your Siltwell account. It gets them only after you sign in and approve access. You sign in on Siltwell's own page, so the assistant never sees your password. You can disconnect it from your assistant's settings at any time.

It acts only on what you tell it in the conversation. Every event, harvest, and planting it logs shows up in your journal and timeline like any other entry, so you can see what it logged.
